Kirk and LeMay named Most Outstanding Players

The E. Jack Spaulding Award for Most Outstanding Defensive Player was awarded to Illinois State safety Luther Kirk of the West team. Kirk registered two tackles and one interception.

The William H. Coffman Award for Most Outstanding Offensive Player went to Benny LeMay, running back out of UNC Charlotte. LeMay ran for 86 yards on 15 carries while scoring two touchdowns in leading the East to a 31-27 victory.

E. Jack Spaulding was a captain in the U.S. Navy and was one of the organizers of the first East-West Shrine Bowl. William H. Coffman was the managing director of the East-West Shrine Bowl for 40 years.
